The children became ‘artists’ and continued focusing on – Painting and Mixed Media. The children thought about the question – Can you apply your painting skills when working in the style of an artist? Miss Jones showed the children an image of a Clarice Cliff’s Circle Tree plate design. Miss Jones asked the children to describe what they saw. The children watched the video which demonstrated what they were going to do. The children were given a paper plate and were asked to paint concentric circles using bright rainbow colours keeping in mind the circles in the Clarice Cliff design. The children were given the opportunity to practise making the black tree shapes, pouring black paint on the paper and blowing it. When the plates were dry the children created their tree shapes using the technique they had practised. The children looked at the plates and compared them, commenting on what they liked, what was the same and what was different. Great artwork Kingfishers.
