Safeguarding and Online Safety

At Stratford St Mary Primary School the health, safety and well-being of every child is our top priority. We expect all staff, governors and volunteers to share this commitment to safeguarding our pupils.

We are fully committed to ensuring that consistent, effective safeguarding procedures are in place to support children, families and staff at school. We ensure that all staff receive appropriate training, guidance and support to undertake the effective safeguarding of children. We have a number of policies and procedures in place that contribute to our safeguarding commitment, including our Safeguarding Policy which can be viewed here.

Sometimes we may need to share information and work in partnership with agencies when there are concerns about a child’s welfare. We will ensure that our concerns about our pupils are discussed with parents/carers first unless we have reason to believe that such a move would be contrary to the child’s welfare.

Stratford St Mary Primary School actively supports the Government’s Prevent Agenda to counter radicalisation and extremism. More information on the Prevent strategy can be found here.

Our Prevent Lead is Mrs K Bilner. Our Designated Safeguarding Lead is Mrs K Bilner and our Deputy Designated Safeguarding Leads are Miss R Jones & Mrs A Marshall. The Governor with responsibility for safeguarding in our school is Matt Carney. Our Online Safety Lead is Mrs K Bilner.

Online Safety

Online safety is an important part of our safeguarding at Stratford St Mary Primary School. We support our children’s use of the internet and seek to underpin their knowledge of safe use and protection. We provide our students with an awareness of how to stay safe online both in the school environment and beyond.

We strongly encourage parents to take a look at the Resources section below for guidance on safe internet use at home.

National Online Safety has designed some ‘What Parents and Carers need to know’ posters which you may find useful to read and share with your children. Please find a selection below.
