‘Baked Scallops’ for the Birds in Forest Fun

The children enjoyed another ‘Forest Fun’ session with Mrs Clark and Mrs Martin. The children got changed into their outside clothes and headed out to the Forest Fun area.
The children were able to have a go at pond dipping and baking scallops for the birds.
They headed over to the pond area and sat down looking at the life cycle of a frog. They talked about frog spawn, tadpoles and froglets. They then headed to the pond to do some dipping. They listened to the rules about how to keep themselves safe around the pond and with support used the nets to dip for creatures in the pond. They found lots of tadpoles and some water snails.
They also made some ‘baked scallops’ for the birds. They followed the recipe and poured, stirred and mixed the mixture. They put the scallops in the oven and baked them for the birds. They also made a village using the blocks, den building using the sticks and mud cakes from the mud kitchen.
