This half term in History the Year One children are focusing on the question – Why did people travel to the seaside years ago? The children became historians and thought about the enquiry question – Can we use photographs to find clues as to what seaside holidays were like in the past? The children were shown two photographs and asked ‘Which of these photos shows a recent beach holiday and which shows a beach holiday from a long time ago? How do you know?’ The children were encouraged to look for specific details, e.g. the clothes people are wearing, hairstyles, cars, etc. Miss Jones told the children that they would be be History detectives and look at some photos to find clues about what seaside holidays were like in the past. The children were shown some pictures to find clues about what seaside holidays were like in the past and recorded their ideas on a mind map focusing on food, entertainment, activities and clothes. Great work Kingfishers.
