Investigating Climate Change

This half term, the Woodpeckers have been learning about climate change. They have been learning about the effects of greenhouse gases on the environment and took part in an experiment to see if our world is heating up as a result of greenhouse gases. Too many green house gases are making our world hotter and causing climate change. The children observed how greenhouse gases are heating up our environment by using a greenhouse environment and an outdoor environment. The children built two lego houses and put an ice cube inside each. One house was put in an outdoor environment and the other was put inside a greenhouse. The children observed the ice cube inside the greenhouse melted much much quicker than the other ice cube. This showed how greenhouse gases effect climate change (as a green house absorbs and traps heat the same way green house gases do.) The children timed the experiment using stop watches and discussed their results. Well done Woodpeckers.
