The children in Kingfishers Class became artists. The children learned about the artist Yayoi Kusama. She is a Japanese artist who is sometimes called ‘the princess of polka dots’. Although she makes lots of different types of art – paintings, sculptures, performances and installations – they have one thing in common, DOTS! Miss Jones told the children they were all going to create their own piece of artwork which is going to be put together with the whole school to create one piece of artwork to celebrate the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee. The children in Year one were asked to use cotton buds and the Reception children were asked to use their finger tips to make dots inside the outline of the Queen. The children used red, white, blue and purple paint. Great artwork Kingfishers!
