In assembly, Mrs Bilner spoke to the children about being a member of the School Council. Mrs Bilner spoke about what they would do as a member and what they needed to do. The children were asked to fill in a application form if they wanted to apply! During class assembly, the class teacher explained what a school council was and discussed what sort of responsibilities the school council has had in recent years. The children thought about what makes a good representative – kind, happy, be you, curious, listen, talk, responsible and respectful. There was a lot children who wanted to be a member and the class teacher explained that only one child per year group could be chosen, but there would be other councils they could be a part of. The class teacher read the application forms to the children (no names mentioned). The children had one vote each and the School Council Representatives were elected. The School Council Representatives are looking forward to their first meeting.
