Christchurch Mansion

Today the children in Kingfishers and Woodpeckers class visited Christchurch Mansion. The workshops and activities were based around one of Constable’s paintings, ‘The Mill Stream’. The children used their imagination and creative skills to interpret the painting in different ways within their activities. There was a music and movement workshop where the children used instruments and actions to retell the story of Willy Lott. The children created their own Mill Stream group pictures and looked at different life-cycles of creatures that would have been in the stream Constable had painted. The children had the opportunity to explore the rest of the Mansion and view the paintings by Gainsborough and other artists. A fantastic day had by all, the children were very well behaved.
