This half term, Swans have been investigating properties and changes in materials as our Science topic. This week, they were given the question ‘Does the type of liquid used in a solution affect the solubility of materials?’ The children designed an experiment to test this, and conducted the whole thing themselves. They had to choose their independent variables and control the dependent ones in order to conduct a fair test. Swans proved they are brilliant scientists, working well in their table teams in order to come to a conclusion. Once they had tested all of the materials (including gravy granules and sand) in warm water, cold water and fizzy water, the children had to write up their findings- a great skill to practice before High School!
