The children in Year One became ‘artists’ and started a new unit of work – Painting and Mixed Media. The children thought about the question – Can we investigate how to mix secondary colours? The children listened to the Sesame Street Lego Three Primary Colours. Miss Jones asked the children some questions- What are the primary colours? What does the word primary mean? Can you point to an object in the room that is: red; yellow; blue? The children were asked to be colour detectives and find out what other colours they could make using the three primary colours. The children were given play dough (red, blue and yellow) and were given time to play with the play dough to find out what happens when they mixed the different colours. The children shared what they had discovered and were able to identify the three secondary colours and how these were mixed. The children worked together to tell Miss Jones how to mix colours and Miss Jones followed their instructions to make a colour mixing poster. Great work Kingfishers.
