Potatoes

The Kingfisher Class were very excited to be picking out their potatoes that they had planted weeks ago. They searched the soil picking out the potatoes. When they had found them all they counted how many they had. Some pots had over 100 potatoes. Great counting by Kingfishers! After counting them they then weighed them and with their partner they decided which was their largest potato and weighed it. The children took it in turns to clean the potatoes using a sponge. Rachel the school cook then boiled the potatoes. The children had an opportunity to taste all three different varieties they had planted. When they had tasted the different potatoes they indicated on their sheet whether they liked it or not by drawing a happy or sad face. The children have taken a bag of potatoes home to share with their families so they can try them. Great work Kingfishers!
