Bread and Butter

The children in Kingfishers Class became bakers. The children put on their aprons and washed their hands. They discussed why they needed to wash their hands and why they shouldn’t touch anything while they were cooking. Miss Jones and Mrs Clark spoke to the children about the recipe and the children were able to say what ingredients they needed. The children listened to and followed instructions given to them. The children helped weighed the ingredients, sieved the flour, added the yeast, oil, and water. The children made a dough and kneaded it. The children waited for the dough to rise and then knocked it back and waited for it to cook. While the dough was cooking the children worked together to make some butter. Cream was poured into the container and the children took it in turns to shake it. The children kept shaking till a lump formed in the jar. The children were amazed as they had made butter! The children enjoyed tasting the bread and butter they had made! Well done Kingfishers, great bread and butter.
