Explaining the Phases of the Moon

As part of our Science topic on Earth and Space, the Owls were learning about the Moon and why it looks different at different times. The children had to create a simulation to demonstrate how the Moon orbits the Earth and how the relative positions of the Earth, the Sun and the Moon lead to the different phases of the Moon. To create their simulations, they only had to use plasticine balls, sticks, torches and a spinning chair! The children worked together really well to create their simulations and showed great scientific understanding.
