This week the Swans have been engineers. They were involved in a mission from NASA – they were given a budget of 6 million dollars to design a new rover for Mars. First they identified the axles, suspension etc on existing rovers. They then used different types of pasta and polos to create their own. Each pasta type and polo came at a given cost. The rovers had to be able to travel down a ramp and then travel a further distance of at least one metre. They found out the speed the rover travelled by dividing the distance travelled by the time it took. They then had to adapt their design to make improvements! It was great fun!
