Exploring Turns

This week, in Maths, Year Three have been investigating turns. We practised quarter, half, three-quarter and full turns. Some of the key vocabulary we practised included: right angle, degrees, clockwise and anti-clockwise. To put our learning into practice, we positioned four different stuffed animals around the classroom. The children had to plan a set of instructions for someone else to follow, planning for them to end up facing a particular animal. (We always started facing the monkey!) The person then tested the instructions by following them, to see if they ended up where they were supposed to. The children loved the lesson and all achieved the learning objective.
