Today we learnt about the world of pneumatics! We explored how the pressure of air can create movement and even experimented this ourselves! We will be designing our own pneumatic device, however first we needed to learn the types of diagrams needed to design these, the children showed excellent skill using four different diagrams!
This term we have been focusing on observational drawings, the children have created lots of beautiful art work! To finish our unit off today the children got to use their imagination to create a ‘magical plant’!
Today we learnt how Britain became part of the Roman Empire, to help the children understand this, we acted it out! The children each took on a role; Emperor Claudius, Roman soldiers and Roman messengers, as well as, Boudica, Celt warriors and Celt villagers. The children had a fantastic time!
We began our new art unit of ‘Drawing’ this week! We learnt some techniques of how to sketch using shape and put these to the test in our natural environment! The children created some beautiful artwork.
Year 3 have had a great time exploring and comparing mass, looking at the equivalent of kilograms and grams!
Today we have been learning about mountains in India and their mountain ranges; we learnt that there are 5 types of mountains and created a catchy rhyme to help memorise these. Woodpeckers have been busy this term creating 3D sculptures; here are their final pieces!
We had a wonderful workshop delivered by Harper’s mum this week; linking in with our geography topic. Does the River always meet the Sea? We learnt lots about the causes of flooding and the dangers flooding can pose.
We completed our final Prehistoric art lesson on the term today in forest school; the children created their own cave art hand-prints using both positive and negative art. Well done Woodpeckers!
