Fire Safety Workshop

The children in Kingfishers and Woodpeckers Class took part in a fire safety workshop. The children welcomed Richard and Alf into school and they told them they were Fire Fighters. They were told that fire fighters do lots of jobs – put out fires, climb ladders, rescue people and animals. The children were shown a fire alarm and how it works. They were asked to check if they had a fire alarm at home and to test it! The children had four different activities to take part in – sorting items that were hot or cold, learning how to call 999 in an emergency, looking for hazards in the home and trying on uniform and learning how to ‘Stop, Drop and Roll’ in an emergency if their clothes caught fire. The children really enjoyed the session while learning about fire safety. Great listening Kingfishers and Woodpeckers!
