Healthy Living Week

Last week our timetable was dedicated to Healthy Living Week; the children were involved in many different activities.  These included our sports day, some Paralympic games, a visit from PC Di and PCSO Denise who talked to the different classes about a variety of things including drug and alcohol awareness & theft, Mr Andrews from Suffolk County Council talked about road safety and Mr Wheals taught the children some yoga. The children worked in their house groups to make things out of fruit – smoothies, kebabs, fruit salads and fruit art were on the menu; they learnt about water safety, food groups, teeth and dental hygiene and also did some tennis activities and enjoyed a Wimbledon inspired lunch of ‘Centre Court’ pizzas, Eton Mess and tennis ball shaped cookies. We were also very lucky to have a visit from Mr Carney, James and the police dogs of Otto and 6 month old Maggie. James demonstrated how Otto (the German Shepherd) can stop a human under instruction from him and Maggie demonstrated her love of tennis balls; Maggie is in training to become an ‘explosives’ search dog.

Thank you to all our visitors for taking the time to come and talk to us.  We all really enjoyed the week.
