To start our science topic on ‘Rocks’, Woodpeckers class made their own salt dough volcanoes. We then created magma and watched it as it came out of the volcano as ‘lava’. This showed us how extrusive igneous rocks are made.

In art we have begun looking at the artist Henry Moore. We explored mixing colours and different drawing media to create the different colours and effects he uses in his ‘Shelter paintings’.

In July 2023, Yer 5 & 6 visited Plas y Brenin in Snowdonia for their residential trip. They were involved in many, many activities which included gorge scrambling, canoeing and mountain walking. The scenery was stunning and very different from Suffolk. The instructors were amazing and the children’s behaviour, confidence and willingness to try new […]

On Wednesday 19th July, the Owls and Swans performed the musical ‘Annie’ to family, friends and staff and children in the school. The children acted and sung beautifully and confidently and wowed the audiences with their various talents, including those who helped with props and music. Of course, this performance would not have happened without […]

On Wednesday 21st June, a group of children represented our school in the netball county final. They played really well demonstrating good team spirit and skill. Thank you to Mrs Wyncoll and Mrs Allum for coaching and accompanying them to the tournaments.

In Science we dissected a heart. The children had been learning about the heart in previous lessons so this really helped embed the learning. Some of them were really brave and used scalpels to cut into the chambers!

The children in Years 5 & 6 had the opportunity to take part in some Bikeability sessions. These sessions, which were delivered by John and Penny, taught the children some skills so they know how to keep themselves safe whilst out on their bikes on the road. All the children did extremely well. Thanks John & […]

The standard of their writing has been exceptional. The children have learnt about the effects of colonisation on the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children who were […]

In the recent after school science club, the children experimented with different material to see which was the most effective to make ‘skittles’. Great fun was had by all.

The Swans visited the Genome research campus in Cambridge today and learnt about DNA and sequencing. This was an amazing opportunity to visit a world famous research lab and discuss the scientific research that goes on there. Hopefully it has inspired some of them to become Scientists in their future years!

The Swans enjoyed their ‘Immersion Day’ learning about aboriginal art. They created dot paintings to decorate the class in preparation for their new Geography topic on Australia.
