For one of our weekly PE sessions this half term, we are being taught street dance by Sophie Dilworth from CDC Dance. Our first session concentrated on hip hop moves and all the children were brilliant!

Today, in Science, the Owls learned about how flowering plants reproduce sexually. We dissected flowers and studied them under magnifying glasses to identify all the different parts.
Today, two coaches from Hadleigh Rugby Club came to lead us in the first of three rugby sessions. The girls and boys were taught separately. They practised passing and tactics. They were all amazing!
On Friday 3rd October, we held our annual harvest assembly in the school. The children read prayers; retold a Greek Harvest story; explained to others about harvest around the world and sang songs. Thank you to all who joined us and for the generous food donations which will be sent to the Colchester Food Bank.
In our History topic on Ancient Egypt, Owls have been learning about mummification. We tried making some of our classmates into mummies!
In Science, the Owls were learning about mixtures and how to separate them. Each group was given a bowl of different substances mixed together and had to race to separate them all out using sieving, filtering, evaporating and magnets. There was lots of great scientific discussion and hands on learning, and plenty of healthy competition!
On Wednesday 10th September, the Owls took part in a workshop on Ancient Egypt, run by Make The Classroom Disappear. The Owls started the new school year with a whole day of activities about Ancient Egypt, which is our first History topic. This week, the Owls are learning about samba music. Today they got the chance to experiment with some samba-style instruments. Later in the week, we hope to perform a samba batucada as a group.
This week, in Computing, Owls class are learning about HTML. Today, we learnt how to inspect the HTML on a website. We noted down the different HTML tags we spotted.
For our Art last half term, Owls made batik prints using colours and patterns inspired by the ancient Maya.
