Woodpeckers
So far this half term, in Woodpeckers class, we have looked at ballads in music. We know that ballads are songs that tell a story and that they have lyrics, a chorus and an instrumental part. So far, our favourite song is Christina Perri’s A Thousand Years!

This term in art we are looking at Prehistoric Art, focusing on the Stone Age! We are linking this in through forest school where we will eventually be creating our own cave art paintings using natural resources from the forest area!

In a recent Woodpeckers computing lesson, we looked at Sketchpad on the Chromebooks. This is a free website that allows you to draw, write and colour. We thought about what astronauts might take onto the International Space Station and then drew our pictures of items in their bag using Sketchpad.
On Thursday 24th April, Years 3 and 4 attended the Schools’ Farm and Country Show at Trinity Park. The children moved round different zones throughout the day: Conservation, Livestock, STEM and Food. This week in the forest, we were very busy planting sunflower seeds, recapping our clay skills from Autumn term, building ships and checking the progress of the frogspawn!
On Friday 28th March, several children from the Owls and Woodpeckers classes took part in a hockey skills session. The children spent some time at various stations learning some skills useful for playing hockey. Thank you to the adults for taking them and all who came and supported the team.

On our trip to Flatford, we had a wonderful tour guide who spoke about John Constable and the history of Flatford. We created our own drawings, discussed the use of the river in the past and learnt about John Constable’s life. Here are some of the pictures from that day.
This term in Art we have been exploring the human body form! Across two lessons the children traced an image of a skull and photocopied it before creating their own day of the dead skulls! They are all so fabulous and now on display for all to see! Well done Woodpeckers!
