The children in Swans have been thinking about why it is important to protect our rainforests. They have been busy creating our class rainforest display and have produced some wonderful ‘Double-Page Spreads’ about this fascinating biome in Geography

This week the Year One children had a mathematical mystery to solve. They were asked to solve the mystery of the missing reindeer bells. They had five clues to solve which involved counting, measuring, adding, subtracting and working with numbers to 100. The children solved the clues and found out the elf who hid the […]

Woodpeckers children got creative last week making some beautiful decorations for their classroom. Lots of Design and Technology skills were used as well as a variety of material to create different decorations. The classroom now looks very festive!

In Science, Woodpeckers have been creating models to show how the Moon orbits the Earth, and the Earth orbits the Sun. We also learned how the Moon reflects sunlight – we see the Moon in different shapes depending on how much sunlight is blocked by the Earth! I wonder if the Moon is waxing or […]

As part of our Science topic on Forces, the Owls looked at water resistance and how it can be overcome by streamlining. They had to design and then build boats to be as streamlined as possible in order to move the fastest through the water. We timed each boat and the quickest one took just […]

The Reception children have been given lots of challenges to complete this week. They had to colour in Santa’s clothes, cut them out and dress Santa. They were asked to decorate the Christmas tree by colouring in decorations, cutting them out and sticking them on their tree. They were also challenged to make paper chains! […]

On Monday the children in Kingfishers Class found their classroom had been decorated ready for Christmas. They also found a present under the Christmas tree which contained Tinsel and Jingle the Christmas Elves. The children have enjoyed seeing what Tinsel and Jingle have been up to. They had written CVC words and graphemes on the […]

As part of our half term topic based on ‘The Titanic’, the Swans children started to construct their Titanic rooms. Lots of Design and Technology skills were used – including using the saws!

Woodpecker’s roving reporters went back in time to 1969 – the day after Neil Armstrong first set foot on the Moon. We wrote newspaper reports of the historic event, then made News Round style video recordings which we shared with the class! One small step for Neil Armstrong. one giant leap for the Woodpeckers!

This week in science, the Swans have been learning about why boats don’t sink. They discovered that the shape of the object affects its ability to float. They looked at an object’s buoyancy in relation to the Archimedes Principle and had lots of fun trying to design a boat that would hold a certain amount […]

The children began making their Christmas cards; they used the computer to type their message for their card. The children were able to find the letters on the keyboard to spell their message. Great typing skills Kingfishers!

The children in Year One have been learning about the Seasons in Science. The children learned about the four different seasons in the UK. They briefly explored what the weather is like in different seasons and what important events there are in each season. The children were then asked to think about the clothes they […]
