Owls
Monday 31st October saw 9 children join us for the very first day of the Start Active Breakfast Club being run by Premier Sport. The children spent their time on some brain gym activities before tucking into a snack of orange juice & toast!
On Friday, all the classes were involved in an Enrichment Day. Mr Ross from Premier Sport taught the children some games which included ‘blindfolded’ ball games, boccia as well as ‘floor volleyball’ involving balloons. The children all enjoyed the activities and learnt how to use different skills and tactics.
On Wednesday 28th September, the Owls class went blackberry picking around the village. As well as picking lots of delicious blackberries, Mr Wheals taught the children how to recognise some other sorts of autumn berries and plants. On Friday 23rd September, it was the Owls Class’s turn to show their work from the term so far. The children read their stories, showed their artwork, performed dialogues in French and demonstrated Science experiments. Children from Key Stage Two have been enjoying Art Club with Miss Jones and Mrs Kite. The children have been recreating their own version of Monet’s painting of the water lily pond and bridge. The children used their fingertips to mix and paint their masterpiece.
Last week our timetable was dedicated to Healthy Living Week; the children were involved in many different activities. On Thursday afternoon, our school hosted a Dodgeball Tournament. Shotley and Capel St Mary schools brought 2 teams each of Year 3 & 4 children to join 2 teams from our school. Four children from the Owls class represented our school at the recent mini-tennis competition held at East Bergholt High School. Each child had 3 singles matches and some doubles matches too. The children played well and came away with the Bronze certificate.
