The children have been learning about place value within 50. The children chose a number from 0 – 50 and represented the number in different ways. They used Numicon, Base Ten, Place Value Counters and the Whole Part Model. Great work Kingfishers.

Recently in Swans class, the children have been investigating prime numbers. They had to work out how many prime numbers there are between 1-100, using everything they had learnt; multiples, factors and their times tables! To make it more fun, it was a competition with prizes. Congratulations to our winners!
This week in maths, Swans class were shocked to learn of a ‘murder’ that had taken place in our class. The children had 45 minutes to solve the mystery using their rounding and problem solving skills. They did a brilliant job and solved the case within the time limit! Fantastic work Detectives!
The children used the Numicon and the scales to work out which Numicon shape was ‘more’ and which was ‘less’. They then correctly put the greater number shape in the more column and the lower number Numicon in the less column. Great Maths work Kingfishers.
The children in Woodpecker Class have been trying hard to read the measurements on different types of scale. Woodpeckers class have been learning about ‘shape’. They made right angle testers to help them find right angles in 2D shapes. They went on a right angle hunt around the school and had lots of discussion about right angles. Well done Woodpeckers! You were great right angle detectives!

Friday the 12th of May was the Woodpeckers assembly where they shared their work from the last half term. They shared writing, demonstrated some Maths and showed of their French knowledge by singing a song in French! Well done Woodpeckers!
